About
Meet The Midlife Vanlife!
Long story short, I’m older than the average #vanlifer that you see on IG and TikTok. I arrived at my forties deciding it was time for big change. I wanted more balance and less work/stress in the second half of my life. I’m trying out full time vanlife to see if I can relearn how to travel, eat, and live with autoimmune disease.
Kim: has multiple autoimmune diseases. She’s sleepy. Kim’s favorite thing to do was travel, but food restrictions and fatigue upended that for a minute. She’s getting back out there with the help of her sweet camper van.
Rosie: is the sweetest angel of a rescue dog, 99.9% of the time. Sometimes she goes wildly reactive, so she’s kept on a tight leash. We’re working on it. Loves snacks and paddleboarding.
Leeeroy Jenkins, Founding Member of The Midlife Vanlife (2007 – 2021): Leeeroy was a 3 year old large dog trapped in the body of a 14 year old small dog. He loved, loved, LOVED being in the van. Leeeroy was able to live that #VanDogLife for several months before he left us behind. Some of this site was built while he was still with us, so you’ll still see him around. We could never possibly forget the feistiest member of family. Rest easy, little buddy.
What will you find on our site?
Things about our van, including all of our research, planning, and build
Things about food, especially for those who HATE cooking but have to do it because they live with food restrictions
Things about travel, specifically how to travel a little more gently with autoimmune disease
How should you use this site?
We’re definitely not web designers, but we’re trying to make things as accessible as possible. If all else fails, a search box will be on every page.
