Resources

I LOVE spending inappropriate amounts of time on the internet. Here, in no particular order, are resources that I’ve found helpful in my journey with autoimmune disease, van building, camping and life. I try to update this page monthly, so feel free to come back and see what’s new from time to time!

Autoimmune Disease (in general)

Intro to Autoimmune Disease – a VERY basic overview of autoimmune disease. If you’re brand new to autoimmune life, this is a good place to start for a base-level understanding of what’s going on with your body.

Intro to the AIP Diet – a basic overview of the Autoimmune Protocol diet, why it’s thought to be effective, and what foods to eliminate and reintroduce

Camping

Allstays – campgrounds

iOverlander – campgrounds, places to park, water stations, propane, wifi, and more!

Love’s – when all else fails for an overnight stay, we love a Love’s truck stop. Most, if not all, have DEF at the pump and RV dump stations

Celiac

Celiac.org – a great place to get started if you’ve been diagnosed with Celiac

Thrive Market – an online grocery store for some of your harder to find items, occasionally cheaper than local chains

Pure Encapsulations – finding Celliac-safe supplements can be exhausting. Pure Encapsulations have a wide variety of Certified Gluten Free products. I’m not a doctor – you do what is right for you – but these have worked well for me.

Disability Rights

Disability Visibility Project – an online community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture

Nothing About Us Without Us – a brief overview of the history of the Disability Rights Movement from the NYT

Exercise

Yoga with Adriene – free yoga videos for all levels, including gentle yoga for chronic pain. I’ve found her channel to be helpful when I’m exhausted or hurting.

Hashimoto’s

American Thyroid Association – a great place to start if you’ve just been diagnosed with a thyroid condition

Thyroid Change – a blog for all things thyroid

Recipes

Against All Grain – I hate to cook, but Danielle Walker seems to love it! She lives with UC and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to eating grain free

Amy Myers – her supplements can be pricey so I haven’t tried them yet, but she has a lot of great AIP recipes

Travel Deals

I love finding travel deals on Twitter, but they move fast. I recommend starting with:
@TheFlightDeal
@FareDealAlert and
@SecretFlying

Van Build Info

Far Out Ride – a wealth of electric and plumbing information!

Sara and Alex James (Custom Crafted Vans) – we went with a layout very similar to their Loft plan. They’re also known for the design of their wet bath

The Midlife Vanlife! – *eventually* we’ll be posting videos about our own build – how we did it, what worked, what didn’t. Stay tuned!
